Exploring Ideas That Shape My Thinking and Drive My Curiosity.

Reading
Books That Inspire Me
Ever since this passion was driven into me by my mom when I was young, my curiosity has taken over and reading has become an essential part of my personal and professional growth. I am drawn to books that challenge the way we think, explore the intricacies of human behavior, and push the boundaries of endurance. Below are some of the books that have deeply influenced my perspective and approach to both engineering and life.
“Books are the gateways to new ideas, shaping how we understand the world and ourselves.”

Books That Have Shaped My Perspective
Behave by Robert M. Sapolsky
Essentially an encyclopedia of everything that impacts human behavior, this 700 page quasi-textbook easily became my favorite book as I digested it. I enjoyed learning how experiences shape who we are. This book made me appreciate the depth of a person and the intricacies of each individual I get to meet.

Endurance by Alfred Lansing
This harrowing tale of survival follows Ernest Shackleton’s Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition in 1914 as their ship gets crushed by an Antarctic ice pack. Shackleton demonstrated a masterclass of leadership and grit as he led his group in waiting out the Antarctic winter until the ice melted, just for him to sail 800 miles in a retrofitted life boat, through the worst oceans on the planet, to a whaling outpost for rescue. All 28 members of the expedition survived close to 2 years away from civilization.
Although I never wish to be in a situation anywhere near what Shackleton and his men had to go through, this story fascinates my sense of adventure and discovery. I find the determination and composure Shackleton demonstrated in his survival something we can all learn from and apply to our hopefully much less dire lives.
The Red Rising Series by Pierce Brown
A Sci-Fi series that I often describe as a mix between Star Wars, The Hunger Games, and Ender’s Game, this series has become a favorite for readers all over the world. Without trying to spoil much, this story follows Darrow, a lower class miner lead a revolution in a dystopian future. For me, this one is just for the thrills.
